Education in China: The Good, the Bad, and the Challenges Ahead”, Christopher Cash
In his talk he will compare education in China and the West; look at the challenges facing education in China; talk about international schools and foreign education; and examine the wider implications of Chinese developments in education. He will also touch upon his personal experiences teaching in China and how Chinese schools dealt with Covid.
There will be time for questions and answers following the talk.
Christopher grew up in Edinburgh and attended George Watson’s College before studying History at St Andrew’s University, graduating in 2017. He then spent two years in China on the British Council Graduate Language Assistants programme, teaching English Literature at an international high school in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, where the students intend to apply to universities in the UK, Canada, and Australia. He is now at King’s College London’s Lau China Institute, completing an MSc in China and Globalisation.
If you wish to attend Christopher’s talk, it would be helpful, so that we can gauge interest and numbers, if you would contact Dale Finlayson (dka.finlayson@gmail.com ) to express your interest.
Friends are welcome to attend. Please ask anyone who is not a member but would be interested in attending to contact Dale so that we can send him/her the Zoom link prior to the meeting; alternatively, send Dale the individual’s name and email address.
We look forward to seeing you on 18 November.
